This game was made for the Metroidvania Month 15 Jam using GB Studio! Yes, it's a real Game Boy Color game (with file provided below)!

Controls:

Z (A on Game Boy) - Jump, Talk, Super Jump (Hold Up with Upgrade)

X  (B on Game Boy) [with Staff] - Attack, Spell (Hold Up)

Shift (Select on Game Boy) - Toggle Spells (when you have more)

Enter (Start on Game Boy) - View Map (Press Shift (Select) to switch maps, X (B) to exit)

Notes:

- WARNING: There is a bug that one of the players found in the desert dungeon. When you are tasked to collection Fragments of Fire and Air, collecting the Fragment of Air first will cause a permastuck as the Fragment of Fire is checking for the wrong inventory flag. To avoid this, please collect the Fragment of Fire first (Fire is at the bottom of the dungeon, Air at the top, and they use their respective alchemical symbols as icons). I have updated this in the game for the future, but I believe updates for the jam are locked so this version can't be updated.

- If you play the .gb file, it is best enjoyed run as a Game Boy Color game! The graphics will be even more messed up and it may lag heavily if not (it already lags sometimes running with GBC)

- Be sure to visit towns! The Taverns are often a good place to gather useful, maybe even essential, knowledge.

- Saving might be borked. I got it to work earlier, then when I was doing my last round of testing, it didn't seem to? The game is pretty short though, so hopefully it will go smoothly.

- There's little sound (effects that are mis-timed and one quick song that shows up in one area)

- A lot of the graphics are a bit fussy (like the staff/spells not flipping when attacking)

- Enemy movement is a bit awkward, so I gave a lot more starting HP than I originally planned. Though it doesn't matter much because somewhere in the last day I broken the player damage code ^_^;

- The last area is very unfinished (basic graphics and no palettes)

- Well, hopefully what's here so far is enough to pique interest in what comes next! Normally I wouldn't release something this incomplete, even for a jam, but the game leans heavily on the Jam's theme (main and optional), so I want to at least put what I had done out there so it could be part of the jam that caused it to exist!

- My friend JakelWolf helped out with planning, world design, and iterating on concepts, so many thanks to him! We have a *lot* more planned for this game (this demo contains less than an 8th of the planned content!  O___O) and hopefully will be working on it more in the near future.
